We Act in an Exemplary Manner

For us, taking responsibility for the future begins in Bietigheim-Bissingen. At the OLYMP headquarters, we make an active contribution to environmental and climate protection and also support children and young people worldwide with the OLYMP-Bezner Foundation.

We set a good example. Since 2013, we have been implementing climate protection measures and making sure that we use resources sparingly. Between 2019 and 2025, we supplemented this by supporting climate protection projects. With the adoption of the Climate Strategy 2040, we will invest specifically in the decarbonization of our own site or focus on reducing direct emissions. Our goal: to keep OLYMP's ecological footprint as small as possible.

Environmental and Climate Data as a Basis

The basis for our operational environmental management is systematic and comprehensive data collection. We collect key figures on energy consumption, the use of water and waste water, the use of packaging and office materials and the volume of waste. We also promote biodiversity. This provides us with an important basis for understanding our environmental impact and further reducing it through suitable measures. In order to further develop our commitment to climate protection in a targeted manner, we have been recording our company-wide CO2e footprint every year since 2017. We have gone particularly far in this regard and have also included the mobility of our more than 500 employees here at the site.

Focus on Climate Protection Measures

Our CO2e footprint shows us specifically where we can avoid and reduce emissions. Building on the base year 2023, we adopted our Climate Strategy 2040 at the beginning of 2025, which defines specific reduction targets and measures.

Scope 1 emissions include all emissions that are directly caused by the company or are under the company's control. Scope 2 emissions cover the indirect emissions generated during the production of purchased energy. Our target for Scope 1 and Scope 2 is to completely phase out fossil energy sources by 2040. One supporting measure is the electrification of our vehicle fleet by 2030, resulting in a reduction of 284.143 t CO₂ (including partial reductions in Scope 3). In addition, through technical modifications to our heat generation systems at our site, we will achieve a reduction of 755 t CO₂ by 2040. Furthermore, by switching entirely to green electricity in our stores by 2026, we will achieve an additional reduction of 54 t CO₂. We calculated our Scope 3 emissions comprehensively for the first time in 2024. We are currently evaluating possible reduction targets and suitable measures in this area.

‘We Have Been Focussing on Innovative Energy Concepts at Our Site in Bietigheim-Bissingen Since 2013. Whether It's a Combined Heat and Power Plant, Geothermal Energy or Generating Our Own Electricity Using Photovoltaics - We've Been Involved in OLYMP for Years. Since 2024, we have been implementing an energy management system in order to make our energy use even more efficient.’

Supporting Climate Protection Projects

It is important to us to take responsibility for emissions that we are not yet able to fully avoid. For this reason, we have supported internationally certified climate protection projects over the past few years.

Commitment That Goes Further

Our endeavours do not end on the company premises. For us, one thing is certain: it is far more blessed to give than to receive. In 2008, Eberhard Bezner founded the OLYMP Bezner Foundation together with his son Mark Bezner and his daughter Birgit Bezner-Fischer. True to our motto, we have been supporting children and young people worldwide in the areas of education, health and training through facilities such as schools and day care centres ever since.

Our Sustainability Report

At OLYMP, we aim to communicate transparently. Since 2018, we have therefore been reporting regularly and comprehensively on our sustainability efforts and progress. You can view the sustainability reports for 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 here.

The new report for 2024 is aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This enables OLYMP to better compare its sustainability indicators and measures.
